Laura
Laura’s not going to take it from anyone in this classic film noir! Laura, Otto Preminger’s 1944 film with Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews, is about an investigation of the murder of a highly successful New York advertising executive (Laura). The twist is that the investigator is in love with the victim.
Everything about this film is excellent: the directing, acting, set design, clothing design, and soundtrack. Once you hear the haunting theme music (composed by David Raksin), which is also entitled Laura, you’ll never forget it.
The American Film Institute named it one of the 10 best mystery films of all time.
You also have to love the film poster designs. They are a visual elan of Hollywood movie posters at their best.
